Half Life: Blue Shift
Stand-alone 'expansion style' game for the acclaimed FPS. (You do not have to have a version of the original game installed to play this). It was released at an ultra-budget price. It offers another take on the events that unfolded in the main game. You take the role of one of the security guards employed at Black Mesa, named Barney. The game environments and story overlap those of the main game with new scripted events, weapons and monsters. A nice section involves rescuing and fighting alongside a marine. There is a multi-player mode for up to 32 players via LAN or Net. As expected, the graphics are now starting to look dated (the Half Life engine is now some five years old).

First-person shooter with a horror theme. The game consists of a series of levels populated by zombie hoards. You play Agent Rogan who must infiltrate the base of the evil scientist named Dr Curien, who has created an army of zombies. The gameplay involves exploring the levels shooting and picking up power-ups. The game has a branching structure, the path you follow depends on how you perform at particular points during the game. A range of high-powered weaponry is available and power-ups are scattered around. Alongside the single-player game, are boss, time attack and two-player modes.
