Arcade-style blaster. The game consists of a series of levels in which you control a ship and face waves of alien ships. The game combines 2D and basic 3D graphics.

Get Medieval

Arcade-style shooting game set in a medieval kingdom. The premise is that a group of evil invaders led by a dragon have sacked the kingdom, anyone who can drive the intruders out gets a reward. You choose from one of four characters, each with their own type of weapon that can be used for close-up and distance attacks. In addition, there are lots of powerups, magic spells and other useful items to collected and used as the game progresses. You guide your character through a series of some 30 challenging levels, defeating numerous varieties of enemies as you go. As well as the main single-player game, there is also a multi-player cooperative mode for up to four players (via LAN or Net). The game is played from an overhead perspective. The graphics and design are good, if now a bit dated.

G-Nome

Action game featuring giant robotic warriors called HAWCs. You pilot these machines, which are equipped with a variety of high-powered weaponry. The game consists of a series of combat-based missions. At points during the game you'll have to run the gauntlet along the ground whilst HAWCs tower above you. The game's graphics and controls are effective.

These two blast 'em up games will be released on one disk for the PlayStation 2. Both games were originally released for the arcade, Gradia III is some ten years old and Gradia IV was released in 1999. Gradia IV includes some graphical improvements, but the gameplay is essentially the same as before.

Guardian 2

3D update of the original Guardian. The game is essentially a simple space shooter. Shoot down alien ships and collect power-ups as you go.

Gun Metal

Third-person action game currently in development. It will feature giant robotic fighters able to change between different forms. You'll be able to extensively customize your 'mech' with a choice of high-powered weaponry. Environments will be interactive and you'll be able to leave your mark on the landscape. The game will consist of 25 challenging, combat-oriented missions. The graphics promise to be impressive.

Gunbalina

Part of a series of shooting games by Namco for the PlayStation that use a lightgun. The gameplay combines target practice with some puzzle-elements in the form of several mini-games. It is not yet known whether the game will be released outside Japan. Game options include training, arcade, endurance, tournament and team battle modes. The arcade mode consists of a series of mini-games for one or two-players. There is also a single-player endurance mode, where the aim is to shoot as many baddies as possible before your life energy runs out. Tournament mode is a competition for up to four players competing individually. Up to eight can compete in team battle mode. The game combines 2D and 3D graphical elements and the graphics are reasonable.

Shooting game. The game takes you through various locations to face a variety of foes, from evil dragonflies to hardy bosses. You'll take the role of a guy named Wakle and after completing the game you'll go on to unlock another character and new variations of the levels.

Gunman Chronicles

First-person shoot 'em up set in a futuristic, Wild West-influenced world. You play the Gunman, who, with his allies, must fight a race of alien invaders. The game covers four diverse worlds. Many different enemy types feature including humans, aliens, dinosaurs and robots. The game employs a highly modified Half-life engine and the graphics are good. Alongside the single-player game, is a multi-player mode for competitive and cooperative games over LAN and Net for up to 32 players.
