Action game currently in development for PlayStation 2. You'll take the role of a cop named Jack Slate. The story will find him on the wrong side of the law after he is found standing over the body of the man he believed killed his father. The game promises stylish design and gameplay with more depth than the standard action title. There will be lots of mini-games and puzzles/challenges alongside the shooting action. Jack will have a wide range of moves, weaponry and equipment at his disposal. For instance, he'll be able to use an enemy as a human shield. The game's graphics promise to be advanced and movie-inspired cutscenes will be interspersed.

Death Crimson OX
First-person shooter for use with a light gun. Set in the future, the premise is that are a member of a rebel group trying to defeat an evil organization called SMO. You play one of two characters named Kou and Yuri who embark on a mission to rescue a rebel leader who has been captured. They are equipped with high-tech pistols which hold ten bullets. The game can be played by one or two people. The main game is the story mode. You can also choose from mission and bullet mode (single levels). The games levels are populated with a variety of metallic monsters and bosses. The game's level design and graphics are reasonable.

Doom 64
Version of the classic first-person shoot 'em up, developed exclusively for N64. The story picks up from the earlier games. The lone marine is on his way back from one of the moon of Mars, which he had cleared of demonic creatures. However, he has to turn around when the demons begin coming back to life. The gameplay involves exploring the levels, shooting, opening new areas and collecting ammo and power-ups. The game features some 30 all-new levels and the game boasts more fully 3D graphics than the earlier games. The door switch system has been changed, you'll have to return to areas repeatedly. A new weapon, the laser, is incorporated. The audio, AI and controls are effective.

Innovative action-oriented game currently in development. It will consists of a series of levels set within a virtual world. As well as more traditional platform-game style action, there will be moving pads with varied gravity from which you will have to shoot enemies. Loads of different enemy types will feature, with over 30 in all. The gameplay will combine shooting with sport type elements, such as rebounding shots. As you progress through the levels you'll gain access to more powerful weapons. The game's promises good design and advanced graphics.

Duke Nukem 3D
3D first-person action game available for multiple platforms. The game's premise is that aliens have invaded the Earth and Duke must repel them using a vast array of high-powered weaponry. Weapons include a variety of guns, a shrink-ray, missiles , pipe bombs and mines. Many humorous touches are incorporated into the game and gory violence and sexual references feature. Level settings in the game are varied. They include the streets of LA and a space station. A good selection of other items of equipment is available, including night vision goggles, a jet pack and scuba gear. Alongside the single-player game is a multi-player deathmatch mode, allowing PC owners to play over a network. The N64 conversion of the game, Duke Nukem 64 allows up to four players to compete. The game's graphics are generally good and the camera and control systems are effective. A notable feature of the game is the good auto-mapping function.

Shoot 'em up and sequel to Duke Nukem 3D. It is due for release for the PC in summer 2000. The game will employ the Unreal engine and the graphics promise to be advanced. As in the other Duke Nukem games, many humorous touches, gory violence and sexual references will be incorporated. The extensive arsenal of weapons will include a pistol, shotgun and shrink-ray. A new feature with be drivable vehicles. The story will revolve another attempt by Dr Proton and his alien hoards to take over the world.

Action game. This is the first game in this popular series of shoot 'em ups to employ a third-person perspective, rather than a first-person view. The gameplay remains action-oriented but there is greater emphasis on puzzling and exploration than in the previous games, and the speed of the game is reduced. The game once again sees Duke facing a variety of alien foe with an arsenal of high-powered weapons. The humorous touches, gory violence and sexual references also remain. The game's plot revolves around an attempt by the aliens to erase Duke from history by traveling trough time. As a result, level settings are varied. They include ancient Rome and the wild west. Duke has an extensive selection of weapons to collect, including pipe bombs and a gattling gun. Alongside the single-player game is a two-player, split-screen mode. The game's graphics are good and the control system is effective. Atmospheric music and numerous voice samples accompany play.
