Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon
Third installment in this series of 3D platform games. Once again, the cute purple dragon embarks on an adventure in a cartoon-style world. The story revolves around Spyro's quest to retrieve 150 dragon eggs that have been stolen by the evil Sorceress, Bianca. The game consists of some 30 lavishly-rendered levels. Spyro has a good selection of moves and abilities, including the ability to breath fire and fly. He can now also enlist the help of four new characters, each with their own special abilities. The gameplay involves exploration, facing enemies and solving puzzles. There are also numerous mini-games incorporated. The game's graphics and controls are effective.

Spyro the Dragon
3D platform game starring a purple dragon named Spyro. The game consists of a series of levels and the gameplay involves exploration, item collection, dealing with enemies and puzzle solving. The gameworld is divided into six worlds, each populated by a family of dragons. The premise is that the Gnasty Gnorc has used magic to trap the dragons in crystals. Spyro must find all the crystals and release the dragons. There are also gems that need to be collected. Each level has a different number of crystals and gems, which is revealed to the player, so that you know when you have managed to find them all. The game employs cartoon-style design and the graphics are excellent. A good range of sound effects and upbeat music accompany play. The music was composed by ex-Police band member, Stewart Copeland.

The original 3D platformer to appear for the N64. It did much to showcase the potential of the new machine. Mario must rescue Princess Peach from evil Bowser's clutches. In order to do this he must explore a vast world and collect 120 'Power Stars'. This involves not only surviving the attacks of the many enemies populating the levels but completing particular challenges. The challenges are varied, including races and reuniting a lost baby penguin with its mother! Mario is not limited to traveling on foot, he can also swim and fly.
