NASCAR 2000
Part of this successful series of racing games. It features 33 cars and drivers and 18 tracks authentic tracks from the US NASCAR circuit. With speeds up to 180 mph the racing action is fast and furious. Game options include championship, single race and multi-player modes. There is also an option to race head-to-head with one of NASCAR's best ever drivers, Richard Petty (aka The King). Race length varies from 15 to some 200 laps. In championship mode, practice, qualifying sessions and races are reproduced.

Stock-car sim featuring the authentic team, drivers, cars and tracks of the NASCAR championship. Game options include single race, full season, half season, custom season and a multi-player races. The game features improvements in many areas over the last game, including in the graphics, AI, vehicle handling and damage modeling.

You can customize many areas of the game, including the difficulty level and race length. Vehicle customization is an important ingredient for success. Adjustable areas include fuel load, tire pressure, spoiler angle (for down-force), wedge (effects vehicle handling), gear ratios, car weight distribution and shock percentages. The game's was impressive at the time of release but now looks dated.

Part of a long-running series of stock-car racing games that features authentic NASCAR drivers, cars, teams and tracks. It offers many more drivers and tracks to choose from than its predecessor, with a total of 35 tracks (17 of which are authentic) and 31 drivers. This is the first game to reproduce NASCAR truck racing. In all, three competitions are recreated (NASCAR Cup, the Grand National and truck racing). Game options include single race, championship and multi-player modes (for up to eight people n PC and 2 on console). You can customize many areas of the game, including the difficulty level and race length. Vehicle customization is an important ingredient for success. NASCAR Heat
NASCAR sim featuring a selection of authentic cars, drivers and tracks. The game boasts good graphics, AI, controls and physics. It combines sim and arcade elements, for challenging but accessible gameplay. You can choose from almost 50 drivers, half of whom are real and half of whom are fictitious. You can opt for time trial, single races or full championship. All but two of the tracks of the 2000 season are recreated. Two difficulty levels add replayability value to the single-player game. Alongside the single player game, is a strong multi-player mode (the PC version enables up to 16 people to race on-line).

The game features authentic cars and tracks, rendered in accurate detail and a boasts a good physics model. Damage is realistically represented. You can choose between arcade and simulation modes. The game includes single races and three championships, as well as a multi-player mode (via LAN and Net). The game offers high degree of customizability, both in race perimeters and car set-up. You can adjust race length, which can be up to 500 laps long). Races are accurately reproduced complete with flags, pace cars and pit stops.

NASCAR Racing 4
Part of this successful series of NASCAR sims, this installment is due for release towards the end of 2000. It will feature authentic tracks, drivers and cars including those from the Busch Grand National and Winston Cup competitions in 2000. This game marks a significant improvement over the previous games since it will employ an all new physics engine (first used in Grand Prix Legends). As a result cars the game ill offer more action and realism as cars roll, spin and get airborne. The game will also have fully 3D graphics. Better AI is also promised. The game will offer a choice of single races, full championship season and multi-player races (for up to 32 via LAN or Net). Players will be able to adjust the realism and difficulty levels. As with the previous titles in the series, players will have a great deal of race and car customization options.

Players can adjust the realism and difficulty levels. As with the previous titles in the series, players have a great deal of race and car customization options. The game boasts generally good graphics, AI and audio. The physics and damage modeling are realistic and the control system is effective. The game offers a selection of game options including quick start, full season and multi-player races (PC, for up to 8 via modem/serial connection LAN or Net).

Among the drives will be greats of the past. The game will employ an all new engine and promises to be realistic whilst remaining playable. Game options will include an 'easy play' mode for novice players, full season and a career mode. In career mode you'll be able to assemble your own car with the aim of working your way to the top by good performance in races and securing sponsorship deals, upgrading your vehicle as you go. There will be a multi-player mode for up to four people.

Need for Speed 4: High Stakes
Acclaimed racing game for PC and PlayStation. This fourth installment offers improved graphics, gameplay modifications and a new game mode. As in the previous games, races take place on street tracks and you have to avoid being caught by the cops for speeding. The game features a range of authentic cars from manufacturers such as Ferrari, BMW, Porsche, Jaguar and Mercedes. There are several game modes, including a selection of tournaments and special events, hot pursuit and full career mode. In hot pursuit mode you take the role of the police car chasing the competitors. In the all new career mode you have a budget to buy a car and then you can upgrade your vehicle as you accumulate prize money. The PlayStation version of the game offers a good two-player mode and it is even possible to bet your cars so that the victor gets to keep the loser's car. Multi-player races for PC users are possible on split-screen or via Net, modem or serial connection and LAN. A notable feature of the game is the improved damage modeling. Play is accompanied by realistic engine noise, radio chatter and a selection of beat-driven tunes.

Need for Speed 4: Road Challenge
Super-car racing game. The game is more a simulation than the titles in the main Need For speed series and there is a greater amount of car customizability. The game incorporates 19 road tracks, set in Europe and the USA. You can select from numerous game options, including 'Hot Pursuit' mode, where you are chased by a police car or can take the role of the police and do the chasing. Prize money has been added, allowing you to buy upgraded models. You also have to spend money to repair damage sustained during racing. A novel twist is the win or bust mode, where you risk your car in a one-to-one challenge. You start with a BMW Z3 and work up to a super machine, such as the McLaren F1. It will be possible to down-load more cars from the Need for Speed website.
