3D platform game starring a purple dragon named Spyro. The game consists of a series of levels and the gameplay involves exploration, item collection, dealing with enemies and puzzle solving. The gameworld is divided into six worlds, each populated by a family of dragons. The premise is that the Gnasty Gnorc has used magic to trap the dragons in crystals. Spyro must find all the crystals and release the dragons. There are also gems that need to be collected. Each level has a different number of crystals and gems, which is revealed to the player, so that you know when you have managed to find them all. The game employs cartoon-style design and the graphics are excellent. A good range of sound effects and upbeat music accompany play. The music was composed by ex-Police band member, Stewart Copeland.
