Uprising
Innovative action/strategy game. It combines first-person shooting action with real-time strategy elements. Set in the future, you play a rebel soldier fighting against the oppressive Imperium that dominates the galaxy. You are placed in control of technologically-advanced mobile armored command unit. Both the unit and a force can then be teleported onto a planet ready for battle. The unit can be used to construct bases and to communicate with HQ and you can change the weapons it carries to suit the mission. You also upgrade various systems as the game progresses. As well as controlling the unit you issue orders to the other members of your force. There are many unit types, including vehicles and aircraft, and each has their own characteristics. You view the game from a first-person perspective and a map that allows you to keep track of the whole battlefield. The game employs reasonable 3D graphics (it is now a few years old) and the control system is complex but effective. There is a multi-player mode for games via modem connection, LAN or Net for up to four people.
