Quake

Popular 3D first-person shoot 'em up. This game employed graphics which were state of the art at the time of release, but as expected look dated now. Importantly characters were fully 3D making them interact with the environment realistically.

Quake 3 Jailbreak

This game is available as a free downloadable mod for Quake 3, designed to deliver better team-based action gaming than the Quake 3. The mod provides an all-new set of maps. The aim of the game remains straightforward, to track down and kill as many of the opposing team as possible. When a player's character is killed they are sent to prison, when a whole team is sent there victory is given to their opponents. The gameplay retains the fast-pace of the main game.

Quake 3 Revolution

Version of Quake 3 developed exclusively for PlayStation 2. Like the PC game, this conversion focuses on multi-player action. Up to four players are able to compete. The game offers advanced graphics combined with impressive design. It features an extensive selection of game types including single-player and team deathmatches. There are twelve high-powered weapons. The game's graphics are impressive and the control system is effective.

Quake 3: Arena

Third installment in this successful series of 3D first-person shoot 'em ups. The game concentrates on deathmatch gaming. You can play against the computer, which displays impressive AI, or against up to 64 human players via LAN, modem or on-line.

Quake 3: Team Arena

Add-on for the popular 3D first-person shoot 'em up with a focus on team-based, online multi-player gaming. It features a selection of additions and refinements to the main game. The pack offers three new game types including Overload and Harvester games. In the former, each base has an obelisk, which can take limited hit points but that recharges between attacks. The aim is to infiltrate your enemy's base and bring down their obelisk. In Harvester mode, artifacts appear at a central point and players must grab them and take them into the enemy's base. There are 19 new levels to choose from and up to 64 people can compete in the same online game. New weapons include a proximity grenade launcher. More character appearance options also feature.
