Aconcagua

Action adventure game. The game is set in the fictional country of Meruza, which is facing a major terrorist threat. The story will begin with the president's plane being brought down and continue with the attempts of the survivors to get to safety. You'll control five different characters through the game. The gameplay will involve exploring the levels, taking out terrorists, collecting items and some puzzle-solving. The plot will be largely developed through numerous high-quality cutscenes. The game will employ a third-person perspective and the control and camera systems promise to be effective. A range of weapons and equipment will be available. The game's 3D graphics should good. There will be no multi-player mode.

Alien Resurrection

First-person shoot 'em up based on the hit sci-fi/horror movie. It features characters from the movie and many of the weapons and sets have also been recreated. The plot is similar to that of the movie and good cutscenes help develop the story. The gory nature of the game means it is only suitable for older gamers.

Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare

Installment in this series of classic, horror-themed, action adventure games. Set in the 1920s, the detective Edward Carnby makes his return in a supernatural adventure. The action is set on the mysterious Shadow Island, located off the coast of Maine. The game features over a 100 locations including a haunted house. You can choose between playing Carnby himself, or his assistant, a woman named Aline. Each character has a separate path through the game adding replayability to the game. The gameplay mixes exploration, interaction with NPCs, puzzle-solving and combat. The game features good design and graphics.

American McGee's Alice

Third-person action game with a horror-twist, based on the Lewis Carroll novels. The premise is that following her well-known adventures in Wonderland, Alice suffers a series of traumatic events and ends up in an asylum when the White Rabbit returns to take her back to Wonderland. It has become a nightmare realm ruled over by the tyrannical Queen of Hearts.

Animaniacs: A Gigantic Adventure

Side-scrolling platform game featuring the Animaniacs characters from the TV show. You control the trio as they attempt to thwart the plans of the evil Thaddeus J. Plotz who has hidden movie rolls, posters and wards around the set of a movie called Gigantic. The gameplay consists of exploration, combat and collecting items. Levels are generally well-designed. Controls are effective., Graphics are adequate.

Arabian Nights: Prince of Persia

Modified version of the PC hit, Prince of Persia 3D, developed for the Dreamcast. You take the role of the prince as he embarks on a quest to rescue the princess. This action adventure game combines good graphics and level design. The gameplay involves exploration, combat and puzzle-solving. The game incorporates improvements over the original version, particularly in the areas of the PC game that were criticized, including the camera and combat systems. The graphics have also been improved. The control system could be better.

Action/adventure game set on earth in the future. Your task is to help defeat terrifying insect-like alien invaders. The aliens come in many shapes and sizes but with a single malevolent intent. Two main characters feature; Private Lewis and Private Lane (both come from a comic published by Acclaim). They have some high-powered weaponry at their disposal.

Arthur's Knights 2: The Secret of Merlin

Action-adventure game. Like the first game, the plot revolves around the life of a character named Bradwen. He has become King of the Atrebates, and faces a threat from the Red Dragon. The gameplay involves exploration, interaction with NPCs and puzzle-solving. You can opt to play Bradwen as Paladin or Celtic, there are subtle differences between the two. The game features a lot of historical information and the setting is largely authentic. The game employs a modified Cryogen engine. The graphics are reasonable, whilst the control and camera systems could be better.

Arthur's Knights: Origins of Excalibur

This adventure game based on the Arthurian legends is currently in development. You'll play Bradwen, a illegitimate prince who was expelled from the kingdom by his half-brother. He must become a Knight of the Round Table in order to be able to return. There will be two paths through the game. You'll get different allies depending on if you choose a Christian or Celtic culture. The game's graphics promise to be good. It will employ a modified Cryogen engine.

Asghan: The Dragon Slayer

Action adventure game set in a fantasy environment. You take the role of a young warrior named Asghan who embarks on a quest to rescue his father and drive out the dragons that have invaded the land. Asghan has a wide range of moves at his disposal including the abilities to swim and climb. He is equipped with a sword. Other weapons, magic spells and items can be found in game. The gameplay primarily involves exploration and combat with some puzzle-solving. Over fifty different enemy types feature. The game covers a range of environments including dungeons, forests and the remains of an underwater city. It employs both third- and first- person perspectives and fully 3D graphics.

Atlantis: Trial by Fire

First-person shooter aimed at kids and based on the Disney movie. The game is not gory. The single-player mode consists of a series of action-oriented levels in which players travel on foot, in the air and underwater. There is also is a multi-player mode (for up to 12 people, via LAN or online) based on sections of the main game. There is a choice of 'deathmatches', capture-the-flag and submarine combat games. The game employs a modified LithTech engine and the graphics and controls are effective.
