Traditional Game from Mindscape
Part of this successful series of chess sims. It was developed with the help of some of the world's top players. The game employs effective graphics and controls. The AI is of a high standard and you can choose from eighty opponents covering a range of skill levels. There is the option to choose an opponent that plays in the style of a particular Grandmaster. You can also compete against another player (same machine, over network/online).
A notable addition to this installment is the 'Kid's Room', offering colorful boards and pieces and providing a good introduction to the game for six to twelve year-olds.
There are also some five hundred thousand pre-programmed matches incorporated and the in-game analysis engine explains the motivation behind any series of moves. Some of the pre-programmed games come complete with a video commentary provided by the chess master Josh Waitzkin.
