Strategy and Wargaming Game from Strategic Simulations Inc. (SSI)

Classic WW2 turn-based war game. The game offers a lot of depth, combined with an effective interface and reasonable graphics (although it is a DOS game and pretty dated). The game is played on hex-based maps and battles are at the battalion level. The game features a good tutorial and a choice of historically-based scenarios, short campaigns or long campaign. Alternatively, you can use the scenario editor or opt for a randomly generated battle. The game covers the war in Europe, North Africa, Russia and the Pacific and loads of authentic units feature. It employs a point system that enables you to 'pay' for repairs and buy new units between connected battles. Multiple difficulty levels and a two-player mode (by email or over modem or network) add considerable replayability value to the game.
