Strategy and Wargaming Game from MicroProse
Strategy game with RPG component based on the MTG card-based system. The basis of the game is the collection of cards that represent land (control of mana), artifacts, spells and creatures. Some 350 of the thousands of cards in the series are recreated in this game. The game is fairly complex and a good tutorial is incorporated. There are two main game modes: campaign and duel. In duel mode you take control of a selection of 60 cards for duels against the computer. In campaign mode your character embarks on a quest to save the magical realm of Shandalar. This mode combines traditional computer RPG elements with the card game rules. The overhead map switches to dueling table when an enemy is encountered.
There is also an Encyclopedia function that gives players access to the full rules and information on all the featured cars. Three difficulty levels add replayability value to the game. The game's boasts effective graphics, with the cards rendered in fine detail.
