Strategy and Wargaming Game from GT Interactive, by Digital Reality
Space-based RTS with god-sim elements. It offers many refinements over the original game, most obviously in the graphics, which are now fully 3D. The game is divided into stand-alone scenarios, three campaigns and a multi-player maps (deathmatches for up to eight players). The game enables you to design your own ships, plan and execute combat strategies. Diplomacy, resource management, and technological research are important elements of the game. The research tree incorporates some 150 distinct technologies. Around 100 worlds appear, and it is even possible to create your own galaxies.
Eight races are featured, but in the main game you can choose to play only one of three races; the humans, Kra'hen and Shinari. The humans wish to find the secret of eternal life, the Kra'hen simply want to rule the galaxy and the Shinari seek economic dominance. Each race has its own campaign and attendant goal. Combat is not limited to space and some terrestrial battle grounds are incorporated.
