Strategy and Wargaming Game from Shrapnel Games, by ProSIM Company
War game. It recreates modern warfare in great detail and evolved from a sim used by the US military (JANUS). The game features an excellent tutorial plus a comprehensive editor. There are also some 70 preset, historically based, scenarios. These include those from the previous incarnations of BCT plus 12 all-new maps that include recreations of US operations in Afghanistan in 2001. Two players can compete over LAN or online.
The game offers a huge amount of depth and realism. It is played on maps screens and it is possible to zoom in and out. Large areas of terrain, and a comprehensive selection of unit types are reproduced. The game runs in real-time but is possible to pause the action and issue orders or speed up the passage of time. The game graphics are fairly basic. The interface is effective.
