First-person shoot 'em up. In the main, single-player, game you play a member of Lieutenant Tuvok's security team in a series of missions featuring Star Trek Voyager sets and characters. The missions are set with in a wider narrative and culminate with a conflict with the Borg. The missions primarily involve being part of away-teams with varied settings.
The game is not limited to pure shooting action, protecting your team-mates and stealth are important elements of the gameplay. It is also necessary to use other tools, such as the ship's computer, and to interact with NPCs you meet along the way.
The game also offers a good multi-player mode, set on the Holodeck, for competitive and cooperative matches. You can work through a choice of scenarios, such as attacking a Borg cube.
The game employs the Quake III engine, and the graphics are impressive. The AI is also highly advanced.
