Multi-player, turn-based strategy game, with combat elements, set in the Star Trek universe.
There are five races or empires in this game, each of which is controlled by a human or AI player. They are the human-dominated Federation, the Klingons, the Romulans, the Ferengi and the Cardassians. You can determine the size of the map in which you play, if the empires are close together it takes less time before their interests conflict.
The game requires you to build an empire by managing resources, diplomacy and combat. After exploration and colonization you have build up a balanced economy. Research and the development of technology is an important aspect of your empire's development. As the game progresses you must defend your empire, as well as attacking and sending spies into the empires of your enemies.
Diplomacy is an important aspect of the game and, impressively, the AI is up to the task of filling in for absent players during negotiations.
