Star Trek Game from Simon & Schuster Interactive, by Gizmo Studios
Space combat sim based on the popular sci-fi TV series. The story tessellates with that of the show at the point where Captain Sisco and his crew are on the frontline in a battle against the Dominion alliance.
The game offers a series of single-player missions, tied together with plot-developing cutscenes, plus a multi-player mode (over LAN or net). Although ships are rendered in 3D, they only can move in two planes. This has a significant effect on the way that ships move.
Numerous types of ships from the series feature and it is also possible to import ships made using Star Trek Starship Creator Warp 2. An extensive selection of weapons is available, including quantum torpedoes and phasers. The game's design and controls are generally reasonable. The graphics are good.
