Fourth in this series of basketball games. It incorporates some improvements over the last game in the series. Like its predecessors it features the authentic teams and players of the NBA. A player editor is also incorporated. There are four main game options: exhibition, play-offs, all-star and full season. There are also three-point and slam dunk contests and a multi-player mode for up to four people on the N64 and two on the PlayStation, although up to eight can play with multi-taps. The control system is customizable. The game has lots of plays and selection of formations to choose from. Further improvements in play calling have been made since the last game. A new control, action button makes defends line-up opposite attacking player with ball. Improvements have also been made to the AI and graphics, although they still compare unfavorably to other basketball games. Games are accompanied by a play-by-play commentary provided by Ray Clay.
