Submarine combat sim. It is the follow-up to a game called 'Jane's 688(I) Hunter/Killer'. It features three controllable subs: the high-tech 688 Los Angeles, Seawolf and Akula/Akula II classes. The game offers a lot of depth and attempts to be broadly realistic. The latest SONAR systems are recreated. However, the available weapons mix authentic and fictional elements.
The single-player game consists of three campaigns, which share some missions. Mission types include search-and-rescue and convoy escort. A mission editor is included. There is also a multi-player mode for straightforward combat or mini-games. The game is played through several information screens and maps and a 3D view. The graphics are basic but this is not a very important aspect of this type of game.
