Driving Game from EA Sports, by High Voltage Software, Inc.
Arcade-style stock-car racing game featuring authentic NASCAR drivers and teams. There is a choice of some 30 vehicles including a few trucks. The vehicles are robust, sustaining little damage when hitting obstacles or other cars and able to perform spectacular jumps and rolls. The handling is varied with each car having a different balance of speed, handling and endurance.
There are18 courses to work through. Their design reflects the action-oriented gameplay and they incorporate short cuts and power-ups. The eleven power-up types include Bad Gas, which slows a vehicle and Nitro, a speed boost. Game options include single races, championship and two-player versus modes. The aim in championship mode is to qualify in a 'Gold Cup' competition for each group of three courses. It is possible to turn off the power-ups. The game's graphics and handling are good.
