Arcade Game from Nintendo, by HAL Laboratory Inc.
Fighting game featuring Mario and friends. Among the characters featured are Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Link and a selection of Pokémon. Fights are conducted on freestanding platforms and victory is achieved by pushing your opponent off the edge, or by building up a higher points tally.
For one player there is the main Tournament Mode, as well as a training mode. Bonus timed challenges intersperse the tournament bouts. There are four secret characters to be unlocked. The multi-player mode supports up to four people.
There are 12 arenas included in the game. Settings include a fairy castle, jungle and city. There is a good range of moves available and each character has their own special abilities, including magical weapons. Powerups appear during matches.
The game's bright and colorful 3D graphics are effective. A good range of sound effects, music and crowd noise accompany play.
