Platform game. There are three modes; Classic, Mazes and Quest. The classic game is a version of the original and maze mode offers a greater variety of level-design.
Quest is the main mode. It consists of around 100 levels, including boss combat, set on four planets (Earth, Mars, Saturn and Pluto). It mixes 2D and 3D graphics and represents a major update of the original games. It is mostly side-scrolling screen, you must collect dots as well as fruit and powerups whilst avoiding the nasty ghosts. There are also fully 3D mazes to explore. Pac-Man now has limbs and can perform a full range of moves including jumps, rolls and the ability to climb and swim.
The gameplay includes some puzzle elements - for instance optimizing powerups to access new areas. There are new threats incorporated into the game, such as falling fireballs. The game's cartoon-style graphics and sound effects are good.
