Arcade Game from Sony Computer Entertainment, by Naughty Dog Inc.
3D platform game starring a bandicoot with a spin attack. The game consists of a series of thirty-two large, well-designed levels set over several islands. The premise is that Crash is one of an army of creatures enhanced by the an evil doctor, who's also holding Crash's girlfriend (Tawna) hostage. Crash embarks on a mission to stop the doctor and rescue Tawna.
The gameplay involves exploration, precision jumping, destroying crates and facing enemies. Among the numerous enemy types are challenging bosses. The levels combine more conventional platform game action, such as jumping puzzles, with fast-paced running sections. The camera view changes depending, between side-on and following, depending on which type of gameplay. Health powerups are scattered around the levels. Crash has a good range of moves and attacks at his disposal. The controls are highly effective and the graphics impressive at the time of release.
