Adventure Game from Electronic Arts, by Origin Systems
Fifth game in this series of successful series of space sims. The game employs an impressive new 3D graphics engine and incorporates significant changes over the last installment. For the first time you do not play Blair (Mark Hamill's character), however he does feature as an Admiral. Instead, you play rookie pilot Lance Casey through a series of varied and engaging missions. A new enemy features, the Nephilim a race of insectoid aliens. The emphasis is on defense of the Confederation. You get to fly a variety of ships but have no control over the selection of weapons or wingmen. The mission structure is linear although it is possible to continue to the next mission if a mission is failed, with some negative consequences. High-quality cutscenes and dialogue sequences intersperse the action.
A Gold Edition of the game is available. It includes the 'Secret Ops' add-on, a set of 56 extra missions.
