Action adventure game. It is set in feudal Japan and features ninja fighters. You choose between two playable characters, Ayame and Rikimaru, each of whom has their own skills and characteristics. Both characters have an extensive range of moves.
There are ten missions with varied objectives. Stealth is an important aspect of the gameplay. Enemies are sensitive to noise and movement. An on-screen 'Ki meter' that warns you of the presence of enemies even when they're completely out of sight. The game allows you to explore locations and find your own way past guards and other obstacles. There is no single solution to each scenario.
When you do engage in combat the characters have a sword and a range of other weapons at their disposal. Among the tools is a grappling hook to scale walls. The game is well-designed and the graphics are generally good. A range of subtle sound effects add to the atmosphere.
