Adventure game with major puzzle component. The game combines good design and graphics with a strong plot, a varied cast of characters and challenging puzzles. The game is set in mid-20th Century and you play a character named Matthew Holmes who finds himself on a ghost ship called Herculania, located near the North Pole. The plot revolves around a mysterious and powerful machine that has strange powers over the human mind. The game sustains atmosphere and psychological tension well. The gameplay involves exploring the rooms in the ship, learning about the ghostly passengers and solving puzzles. Puzzles mostly revolve around the use of items or the piecing together of verbal clues. The game employs a simple point-and-click control system. Dark and violent themes are touched on, making this game unsuitable for the younger gamer. Subtle background music accompanies play.
