Adventure Game from Activision, Inc., by Crystal Dynamics
First in a successful series of action adventure games that also includes 'Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver'. You take the role of a vampire named Kain and the game is set in a gothic-inspired world called Nosgoth. The game has an RPG component, Kain gains new equipment, spells and strength as the game progresses.
The gameplay involves exploration, hack-and-slash fighting action, item/spell collection and use, and challenging puzzles. The game has a strong story. Kain is a freshly made vampire out for to wreak revenge on his murderers. He then embarks on a quest to be free himself from the curse of being a vampire. He must find and appeal to the mythical Pillars of Nosgoth. The pillars turn out to be in severe peril must be restored.
The game employs 2D graphics and sprites, and now looks pretty dated. It boasts great design, graphics and audio, including good dialogue.
