Action Game from Activision, Inc., by Probe Entertainment Ltd.
2D, side-scrolling fighting game featuring the characters from the X-Men comics. It originally appeared in the arcades.
It features ten playable characters, heroes and villains of both sexes, plus two bosses. The available characters include Wolverine, Storm, Iceman, Cyclops and Silver Samurai. Each character has their own fighting style and special moves. There is a power-up bar (X-Power bar) divided into three segments that enables you to access special attacks (X-Abilities and Hyper-X techniques).
You can play against the computer in the tournament mode or compete against another player (same machine). There are numerous moves and combos to master. The control system is effective, although it is best suited to a gamepad. The game boasts good graphics for its age. Fitting audio accompanies play including samples provided by the actors who voice the X-Men cartoon show.
