Action Game from GT Interactive, by Id Software
Popular 3D first-person shoot 'em up. This game employed graphics which were state of the art at the time of release, but as expected look dated now. Importantly characters were fully 3D making them interact with the environment realistically.
The premise is that a portal developed by US scientists has been captured by the evil being, Quake, who is using it to transport his minions to Earth. The game consists of a series of levels which must be completed before a final showdown.
The gameplay involves shooting, finding switches to access new areas. Weapons, ammo and health power-ups are scattered around. A good selection of high-powered weaponry is included. Your character has a good range of moves including swimming and jumping. Three difficulty settings add replayability to the single-player game. Up to 32 players can play over LAN or on-line, or 2 players on the consoles.
