Update of Mortal Kombat 4 for the Dreamcast. The trademark gory finishing moves are still present. The major improvement over the previous games is in the graphics. The game employs fully 3D characters and each character has a weapon, another innovation of MK 4.
You choose from a range of game options including single contest or the full tournament, where you must work your way up through the ranks to fight the boss. The multi-player mode allows for two people to fight it out.
The single-player championship game is tied together by a story developed by good FMV sequences.
Each of the 20 characters has their own special moves. There are a large number of moves included in the game and the control system has been modified to make it easier to pull of combos. As noted, the graphics are good. It should be noted that there is a significant amount of blood and gore feature.
