3D platformer. The gameworld is the much larger than in the first game. Another difference is the structure, the game is not divided into linear levels but a series of hubs provide a choice of levels. Each village hub has a distinctive theme (sailor, winter, prehistoric and Incan). The story involves Croc's search for his family and a renewed threat from the evil Dantinis.
Croc can perform a large range of moves including a sidestep, the ability to swim and move objects and a variety of attacks and jumps. Croc has a new move (boost jump) and he can use a number of vehicles including a boat and a hot-air balloon. The game offers good 3D graphics and the story is developed through engaging cutscenes. Character and level design is generally good and the control system is effective. The camera system could be better. A good range of sound effects and a lively soundtrack are incorporated.
